Possible Causes
Defective RFID reader module behind front panel, Damaged or disconnected RFID wiring harness, Corrupted access control configuration in wallbox firmware, Front panel damage affecting RFID antenna
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Authentication faults are not electrical hazards, but do not open the unit while energized. Turn off power before removing covers.
- Try multiple cards: Test with more than one authorized RFID card or tag to rule out a single bad card.
- Check card orientation and distance: Hold the card flat against the marked RFID area on the Porsche wallbox front panel and wait a few seconds.
- Reset access control: If you have admin access via the app or web interface, reset the RFID configuration and re-enroll cards according to Porsche instructions.
- Inspect front panel: Look for cracks, impact damage, or signs of water ingress around the RFID area. Damage can detune or break the antenna.
- Technician module check: A technician should open the unit, verify the RFID reader module is securely mounted and its harness is firmly connected to the main control PCB. Replace the RFID reader module or front panel assembly if defective.
