Possible Causes
Disconnected or miswired Modbus/RS-485 cable to external energy meter, Faulty Porsche energy manager or external meter, Incorrect load management configuration in wallbox, Defective RS-485 transceiver on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the wallbox and any connected energy meters before working on communication wiring.
- Inspect communication wiring: Verify that the twisted pair for RS-485 (A/B) is correctly connected and polarity is consistent between the Porsche wallbox and the external meter or energy manager.
- Check terminations: Ensure that termination resistors are installed only where required by the Porsche installation guide.
- Verify meter power: Confirm that the external energy meter or Porsche energy manager is powered and functioning (display active, no errors).
- Configuration check: In the wallbox settings, verify the correct Modbus address, baud rate, and protocol parameters for the connected device.
- Technician RS-485 test: A technician can use a protocol analyzer or test tool to verify communication on the RS-485 lines. If the wallbox is not transmitting/receiving, the RS-485 transceiver on the main control PCB may need replacement.
