Possible Causes
Failed internal cooling fan in Porsche wallbox, Blocked air intake or exhaust vents, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control PCB, Disconnected fan wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing covers. Moving fan blades can cause injury.
- Listen for fan operation: During charging or self-test, you should normally hear the internal fan. If it is silent or unusually loud, suspect a fault.
- Clean vents: Use a vacuum or soft brush to remove dust and debris from all ventilation openings. Do not use compressed air that could drive dust deeper inside.
- Technician fan test: A technician should open the unit, verify that the fan spins freely by hand, and check for obstructions. Measure the fan supply voltage during operation; if voltage is present but the fan does not spin, replace the fan.
- Check fan wiring: Ensure the fan connector is fully seated on the main control PCB and that wires are not pinched or damaged.
- Replace driver circuit if needed: If the fan is good but not being driven, the fan driver circuit on the main control PCB may be defective and require board replacement.
