Possible Causes
Vehicle not fully seated in J1772 connector, Pilot signal not detected due to dirty pins, Incorrect current setting incompatible with circuit, Internal relay not engaging despite no code
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the vehicle is in Park and the parking brake is set before connecting or disconnecting the charger.
- 1. Reseat connector: Unplug the J1772 handle, inspect for debris, then plug it back in firmly until the latch clicks.
- 2. Check vehicle settings: Some EVs require enabling charging or disabling a charge timer in the car. Verify that the vehicle is set to charge immediately.
- 3. Verify current setting: On adjustable Primecom models, ensure the selected current does not exceed the circuit rating and is acceptable to the vehicle. Try lowering the current setting and retry.
- 4. Listen for relay click: When starting a charge, you should hear a click from inside the charger. If there is no click and no code, the relay driver may be weak or intermittent; professional diagnosis is recommended.
- 5. Test with another EV or outlet: This helps isolate whether the issue is with the charger, the vehicle, or the supply circuit.
