Possible Causes
Failed relay coil, Open circuit in relay driver, Safety interlock not satisfied, Mechanical obstruction in relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Internal relay work must be done with power disconnected and by qualified personnel.
- 1. Listen for relay click: When starting a charge, if there is no audible click, the relay may not be energizing.
- 2. Check for error messages on vehicle: Some vehicles will report that EVSE power is not available; note any codes.
- 3. Power-cycle: Turn off power for several minutes, then restore and retry.
- 4. Internal inspection (technician): Verify that the relay coil receives control voltage when a charge is requested. If not, the driver circuit or control board is faulty.
- 5. Replace relay or board: Replace the main power relay or the entire control board assembly as appropriate.
