Possible Causes
Normal EVSE leakage exceeding GFCI tolerance, Shared neutral or ground issues in panel, Moisture in charger or connector, Internal filter capacitors leaking to ground
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Treat any ground fault trip as a potential safety issue until proven otherwise.
- 1. Verify dedicated circuit: Primecom Level 2 chargers should be on a dedicated, non-GFCI breaker unless local code requires otherwise. Consult an electrician.
- 2. Dry and clean: Ensure the charger, plug, and connector are completely dry and free of condensation.
- 3. Check panel wiring: Have an electrician verify that neutrals and grounds are not shared improperly between circuits, which can cause nuisance tripping.
- 4. Test on another circuit: If possible, test the charger on a different, properly wired circuit to see if tripping persists.
- 5. Internal leakage: If trips continue on a known-good circuit, internal filter capacitors or insulation may be leaking; professional diagnosis and possible control board replacement are required.
