Possible Causes
Moisture inside J1772 connector, Damaged insulation in output cable, Faulty internal GFCI / RCD module on main control board, Ground connection issue in supply wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not continue using the charger until the ground fault is identified. Turn off the breaker and unplug the unit (if plug-in type).
- 1. Inspect for moisture: Check the J1772 connector and cable for water, condensation, or dirt. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow several hours of air-drying before retrying.
- 2. Check for visible damage: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections on the cable. If copper conductors are visible or the jacket is deeply damaged, the cable must be replaced.
- 3. Verify outlet and ground: For plug-in Primecom chargers, test the wall outlet with a receptacle tester to confirm proper ground. For hardwired units, have a licensed electrician verify ground continuity and correct wiring.
- 4. Reset and retest: After drying and inspection, restore power and reconnect to the vehicle. If E02 persists with multiple vehicles and outlets, the internal GFCI/RCD circuitry may be defective.
- 5. Do not bypass GFCI: Never attempt to defeat or bypass the ground fault protection. If the fault remains, contact a professional for control board or charger replacement.
