Charger displays E03 and refuses to start; vehicle may show an earthing or installation fault message.

Safety first: Earth faults can be dangerous. If you suspect a missing or loose earth, do not use the charger until it has been tested by a qualified electrician.

• Check external connections: Inspect the incoming supply cable to the Rolec unit. Ensure the earth conductor is present, correctly sized, and firmly terminated at the charger’s earth bar and at the external isolator/consumer unit.
• Inspect internal earth bar: With power isolated, remove the front cover and verify that all green/yellow earth conductors (supply, socket/tethered lead, metal enclosure bonding) are securely clamped to the earth bar.
• Test earth continuity (electrician only): Use an approved tester to measure earth continuity and loop impedance at the charger. Compare readings with local regulations and Rolec installation requirements.
• Check PME/earth monitoring module: If fitted, inspect the Rolec earth monitoring / PME fault detection module for damage or loose connectors. Some models have a status LED—refer to the Rolec manual for LED meanings.
• Rectify and reset: Once the earth issue is corrected, power‑cycle the charger. If E03 persists despite good earth readings, the earth monitoring circuit on the control PCB or module may be faulty and require replacement.
