Possible Causes

Jammed or broken Type 2 socket lock pin, Failed lock actuator motor, Obstruction in socket preventing lock movement, Faulty lock position sensor or wiring to control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before attempting to free a jammed lock. Do not force the plug out while the unit is energised.

  • Inspect socket area: Check for foreign objects, ice, or debris inside the Type 2 socket that could block the locking pin.
  • Attempt controlled release: Use the Rolec app or front panel (if supported) to send an unlock command. Listen for the actuator motor.
  • Manual release (if provided): Some Rolec sockets have a manual release mechanism accessible from inside the enclosure. With power isolated and cover removed, follow the manual to release the lock.
  • Check actuator and sensor wiring: Inspect the small harness from the lock actuator and position sensor to the control PCB. Reseat connectors and look for damage.
  • Replace lock assembly: If the actuator is seized or the pin is broken, replace the complete Type 2 socket/lock assembly with a Rolec‑approved part.
