Possible Causes
Control pilot (CP) conductor shorted to earth inside cable or socket, Water ingress in Type 2 socket causing tracking, Damaged tethered cable, Faulty CP driver circuit on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: A CP short can prevent safe operation. Do not attempt to bypass the pilot circuit.
- Inspect cable and socket: Look for visible damage to the tethered cable or socket. Check for moisture, corrosion, or burn marks around the CP pin.
- Dry and clean: If moisture is present, dry the socket thoroughly and improve sealing around glands and covers. Do not use conductive cleaners.
- Continuity test (technician only): With power isolated, disconnect the CP conductor at the control PCB and test for continuity between CP and earth. A low resistance indicates a short in the cable or socket.
- Isolate the fault: Disconnect the cable/socket from the PCB and re‑test. If the short disappears, the cable/socket is faulty; if not, the PCB CP circuit may be shorted.
- Replace faulty component: Install a new tethered cable or socket assembly if they are the source of the short. If the PCB is at fault, replace the control PCB.
