Possible Causes

Open circuit in proximity pilot (PP) resistor path, Damaged PP conductor in cable, Faulty Type 2 socket proximity switch, Defective PP sensing circuit on control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before testing continuity on internal wiring.

  • Try another vehicle and cable: If the charger is socketed, test with a different cable and EV to rule out vehicle‑side issues.
  • Inspect plug and socket: Check that the plug fully seats in the socket and that there is no mechanical obstruction preventing full insertion.
  • Continuity check (technician only): With power off, test continuity of the PP conductor from the socket/cable to the control PCB. Also verify the correct resistor value between PP and PE as per Type 2 standard.
  • Check socket switch: Some sockets have a microswitch to detect plug insertion. Ensure it operates freely and that its wiring is intact.
  • Replace faulty part: If the PP path is open in the cable or socket, replace the affected assembly. If wiring and hardware are good, the PP sensing circuit on the PCB may need replacement.
