Possible Causes
Damaged or missing enclosure gasket, Loose or incorrectly sealed cable glands, Enclosure not rated or installed correctly for outdoor exposure, Rapid temperature changes causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Moisture inside an electrical enclosure is hazardous. Isolate power before opening.
- Isolate and open: Turn off power at the isolator and consumer unit. Remove the front cover and allow the unit to dry completely in a warm, dry environment.
- Inspect seals and glands: Check the door gasket, fixing screws, and all cable glands. Replace damaged gaskets and re‑terminate glands with appropriate IP‑rated fittings.
- Check for corrosion: Examine the control PCB, terminals, and contactor for corrosion or tracking. Replace any components showing significant damage.
- Improve installation: If the charger is exposed to driving rain, consider adding a weather shield or relocating if permitted.
- Reassemble and test: Once fully dry and resealed, restore power and perform a full functional test. If RCD or leakage faults persist, further component replacement may be needed.
