Possible Causes
Leakage current detected by integrated RDC-DD sensor, Damaged cable insulation, Moisture ingress in Type 2 connector, Faulty Schneider EVlink residual current detection module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to bypass ground fault protection. Turn off power at the breaker before inspection.
- Inspect cable and connector: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections of the tethered cable. Check for moisture, condensation, or dirt inside the connector. Dry thoroughly if moisture is present.
- Check for water ingress in charger: Open the EVlink housing (with power OFF) and inspect for signs of water, corrosion, or condensation on the control board and terminal blocks. If present, allow to dry completely and identify the source of ingress (damaged gasket, open knockouts).
- Test on a dry day: If E04 only appears during or after rain, suspect moisture in the connector or enclosure. Improve weatherproofing and replace damaged seals.
- Reset RCD (if external): If your installation uses an external RCD/RCBO, reset it after verifying there is no visible damage to the charger or cable.
- Professional testing: A qualified electrician should measure insulation resistance of the cable and internal wiring, and test the integrated RDC-DD or RCD module. Replace the Schneider EVlink residual current detection module or complete charger if the sensor is faulty.
