Possible Causes

Incorrect current setting on EVlink configuration, Short circuit or partial short in cable, Faulty contactor welding and subsequent protection trip, Defective Schneider EVlink current sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the charger at the main breaker. Overcurrent conditions can be hazardous.

  • Verify breaker rating: Confirm the upstream breaker rating matches the EVlink charger's configured maximum current (e.g., 32 A charger on 40 A breaker). Mismatch can cause nuisance trips and E05.
  • Check configuration: Access the EVlink configuration (DIP switches or software) and ensure the maximum current is set according to the supply and wiring size.
  • Inspect cable for damage: Look for burn marks, melted insulation, or hot spots on the tethered cable or socket. Do not continue using a damaged cable.
  • Internal inspection: With power OFF, inspect the power contactor and wiring for discoloration or signs of overheating. Loose terminals can cause localized heating and overcurrent detection.
  • Reset and test: After corrections, restore power and test with a lower current setting if available. If E05 recurs, the internal current sensor or control board may be defective.
  • Call a technician: Replacement of the current sensor or contactor assembly should be performed by a Schneider Electric–qualified technician to ensure correct calibration.
