Possible Causes
Lost communication with Schneider external energy meter, Broken RS-485 or Modbus cable, Incorrect DLM configuration, Faulty DLM controller module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: De-energize the charger and any associated external meters before working on communication wiring.
- Check external meter status: Verify that the Schneider energy meter used for load management is powered and displaying values.
- Inspect communication wiring: Follow the RS-485/Modbus cable from the EVlink charger to the meter. Ensure A/B lines are correctly connected, polarity is correct, and shield is properly grounded as per Schneider guidelines.
- Verify DLM settings: Using the EVlink configuration interface, confirm that load management is enabled only if an external meter is present and correctly addressed.
- Test without DLM: Temporarily disable load management (if allowed) to see if charging resumes normally. This helps isolate the issue to the DLM system.
- Technician diagnosis: If E17 persists, a Schneider Electric–qualified technician should test the communication bus and replace the DLM controller or external meter if defective.
