Possible Causes
Open pilot wire in output cable, Faulty pilot driver on control board, Damaged J1772 connector pilot pin, Vehicle inlet contamination preventing contact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the charger at the breaker before inspecting the cable in detail.
- Test with multiple vehicles: If none of the vehicles begin charging, the issue is likely in the Schumacher charger.
- Inspect J1772 connector: Check the small pilot pin for bending, corrosion, or recession into the plastic. If damaged, replace the handle/cable assembly.
- Check cable for damage: Look for kinks or crushed sections that could break the pilot conductor inside.
- Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON to reset the control board.
- If still no charge and no code: The pilot driver circuit on the control board may have failed. Contact a technician for control board testing and replacement.
