Possible Causes
Tripped MCB or RCD in consumer unit, Blown internal fuse on Shell Recharge charger, Loose supply wiring at terminal block, Failed low-voltage power supply module on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
High voltage hazard: Only a qualified person should remove covers or test live voltages.
- Step 1 – Check home breakers: Locate the dedicated breaker and any RCD/RCBO feeding the charger. Reset if tripped. If it trips again immediately, stop and call an electrician.
- Step 2 – Verify outlet/supply: If the charger is on a plug (rare), test the outlet with another appliance. For hardwired units, an electrician should verify voltage at the supply terminals.
- Step 3 – Inspect for damage: Look for signs of impact, water ingress, or burning smell around the Shell Recharge unit. If present, do not re-energize.
- Step 4 – Internal fuse (technician only): With power off, a technician can open the unit and check any internal fuses or the low-voltage power supply module feeding the control PCB.
- Step 5 – Board replacement: If supply voltage is present but the unit remains dead, the low-voltage PSU or main control PCB likely needs replacement.
