Possible Causes
Defective HomePlug GreenPHY / PLC module, Electrical noise on power lines, Damaged CP line or filter, Firmware incompatibility between charger and vehicle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This fault relates to digital communication between the Shell Recharge charger and the EV.
- Step 1 – Power cycle both ends: Turn off the charger at the breaker and lock the vehicle for at least 5 minutes to fully power down its systems. Then power the charger back on and reconnect.
- Step 2 – Try another EV: If possible, test with a different vehicle to determine if the issue is vehicle-specific.
- Step 3 – Inspect cable: Check the Type 2 cable for damage, kinks, or crushed sections that could affect the communication lines.
- Step 4 – Firmware update: Use the Shell Recharge app to check for and apply any firmware updates to the charger.
- Step 5 – If E09 persists with multiple vehicles and cables: The internal PLC/communication module or CP circuitry on the main PCB may be defective. Contact Shell Recharge support for module or board replacement.
