Possible Causes
Defective RFID reader board, Loose RFID antenna connection, Damaged front panel around RFID area, Firmware not recognizing RFID module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: This affects user authentication; charging may be blocked even if power is OK.
- Step 1 – Try app-based start: If your Shell Recharge model supports starting sessions via the app, attempt to start charging without RFID. If this works, the fault is limited to the RFID system.
- Step 2 – Test multiple cards: Try more than one authorized RFID card or fob to rule out a single bad card.
- Step 3 – Inspect front panel: Check for cracks, impact damage, or water ingress around the RFID symbol area.
- Step 4 – Reboot and update: Power cycle the charger and check for firmware updates via the app.
- Step 5 – Hardware service: If E11 persists, the RFID reader module or its cable to the main PCB may need replacement by a technician.
