Possible Causes
Defective internal kWh meter, Loose meter communication harness, Firmware mismatch between meter and main PCB, Overvoltage damage to metering circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: Some Shell Recharge models include an internal MID-certified meter for billing or monitoring.
- Step 1 – Check if charging still works: Attempt to start a session. Some units allow charging even if metering is faulty; others will block charging.
- Step 2 – Power cycle: Turn off the breaker for 60 seconds and then back on to reset the meter and main PCB.
- Step 3 – Firmware update: Use the app to check for firmware updates that may include meter compatibility fixes.
- Step 4 – Internal inspection (technician only): With power off, verify that the meter module’s communication cable is firmly seated on both the meter and the main PCB.
- Step 5 – Replacement: If E14 persists, the internal meter module or its interface on the PCB may need replacement by an authorized technician.
