Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the Siemens EV charger at the dedicated breaker and verify no voltage is present before touching wiring. Do not work on live circuits.
- Inspect the cable and plug: Unplug from the vehicle and wallbox. Check the Type 2 connector for bent pins, melted plastic, corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a soft brush and electrical contact cleaner; do not use water.
- Try a different cable: If your Siemens charger uses a socket (untethered), test with a known-good Type 2 cable. If the error disappears, the original cable is likely defective.
- Check vehicle inlet: Inspect the car’s charge port for debris or damage. If pins are recessed or burnt, stop and contact a vehicle technician.
- Reset the charger: Restore power at the breaker, wait 60 seconds, then power back on. Start a new session and observe if E001 returns.
- Internal inspection (advanced): With power OFF and cover removed, visually inspect the control pilot wiring from the main control board to the socket/lead for loose terminals or broken conductors. Tighten screw terminals to manufacturer torque specs only if you are qualified.
If E001 persists with multiple vehicles and cables, the internal CP/PP circuitry on the control board is likely faulty and the unit should be serviced or replaced by a qualified Siemens technician.
