Charger refuses to start charging and displays E002; vehicle may show ‘Check power source’ or similar message.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Only a qualified electrician should open the charger or distribution panel. Always isolate power at the main breaker and verify with a meter.
- Confirm supply rating: Check the Siemens charger nameplate (e.g., 230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase). Verify the breaker and supply wiring match the required voltage and phase configuration.
- Inspect terminal block: With power OFF and cover removed, inspect L1/L2/L3, N, and PE terminals for discoloration, looseness, or signs of overheating. Tighten to the torque specified in the Siemens installation manual.
- Measure voltage: With power restored, measure line-to-neutral and line-to-line voltages at the charger input using a calibrated multimeter. Ensure values are within ±10% of the rated voltage.
- Check cable sizing: Verify that the supply cable cross-section meets Siemens requirements for the installed current setting and run length. Excessive voltage drop can trigger E002 under load.
If the supply is correct and connections are sound but E002 persists, the internal voltage sensing circuit on the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by Siemens service.
