Possible Causes

Failed locking solenoid or motor in Type 2 socket, Jammed mechanical lock pin due to dirt or deformation, Broken lock position sensor or microswitch, Loose wiring to lock actuator from control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before attempting to free a jammed lock. Do not force the connector with excessive strength.

  • Visual inspection: Check the Type 2 socket area for foreign objects, ice, or debris obstructing the lock pin. Clean carefully.
  • Manual release: Many Siemens chargers have a manual release for the connector lock accessible behind a cover. Follow the manual to release the plug without damage.
  • Listen for actuator: With power on, start a session and listen for the lock motor/solenoid. No sound may indicate a failed actuator or wiring issue.
  • Check wiring (advanced): With power OFF, inspect the harness from the main control board to the lock actuator and position sensor. Reseat connectors and check for broken conductors.

If E012 continues after cleaning and wiring checks, the lock actuator assembly or its sensor is likely defective and should be replaced as a unit.
