Possible Causes

Failed RFID reader module in front panel, Damaged or incompatible RFID cards, Loose connection between RFID module and main board, Corrupted user database in memory

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Authentication components are low voltage; still isolate power before opening the housing.

  • Test multiple cards: Try several known-good, authorized RFID cards or tags. If none are recognized, suspect the reader or configuration.
  • Check reader window: Clean the RFID reader area on the front panel; dirt or stickers can reduce read range.
  • Configuration check: Use the Siemens configuration tool to verify that RFID mode is enabled and that cards are correctly enrolled.
  • Inspect wiring: With power OFF, reseat the connector from the RFID reader module to the main control board.

If E017 persists and no cards are recognized after configuration and wiring checks, the RFID reader module or the authentication logic on the control board may require replacement.
