Charger powers up but immediately shows E02 and refuses to energize the vehicle; some units may show a red LED and E02 on the LCD.

Safety first: Do not bypass ground fault protection. Turn off the breaker and lock it out if possible before opening the unit.

• Check for moisture: Inspect the J1772 handle for water, condensation, or dirt. If wet, disconnect power to the EVSE and allow the connector to dry completely indoors for 24 hours. Do not use heat guns or open flames.
• Inspect cable jacket: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections along the Sun Country Highway output cable. If copper conductors are visible or the jacket is deeply damaged, replace the cable assembly.
• Verify supply wiring: At the panel and EVSE, confirm that ground and neutral are not tied together on a subpanel and that the EVSE is wired according to Sun Country Highway installation instructions (typically L1/L2/ground only for 240 V). Incorrect bonding can cause nuisance ground fault trips.
• Test with another vehicle: If possible, try a different EV. If E02 occurs with multiple vehicles and the connector and cable are dry and intact, the internal GFCI/CCID circuitry on the control board may be defective. Replacement of the control board or GFCI module should be done by a licensed electrician or service technician.
