Possible Causes

Broken proximity switch in J1772 connector, Damaged proximity wire in output cable, Misaligned or stuck latch mechanism, Control board proximity input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before handling or inspecting the cable entry into the charger.

  • Check handle latch: Squeeze and release the latch on the J1772 handle several times. It should move freely and spring back. If it feels loose, jammed, or does not click, the internal proximity switch may be damaged.
  • Inspect for physical damage: Look for cracks or impact damage on the handle body. If the handle has been dropped or driven over, replacement is recommended.
  • Cable flex test: With power on and the vehicle connected, gently move the cable near the handle. If E07 appears or clears when flexed, the proximity conductor inside the cable may be broken; replace the output cable assembly.
  • Board input test (advanced): A technician can measure the proximity circuit at the control board connector to confirm whether the signal is reaching the board. If the signal is correct but E07 persists, the control board input is likely faulty.
