Possible Causes
Open or shorted current transformer (CT) on output lines, Loose CT connector to control board, Damaged CT wiring harness, Faulty current measurement circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: The CTs are around live conductors. Turn off power and verify zero voltage before opening the enclosure.
- Locate CTs: Inside the Sun Country Highway charger, identify the current transformers (small ring-shaped sensors around the output conductors).
- Check connectors: Ensure the CT leads are firmly plugged into the control board header. Reseat the connectors to clear any poor contact.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, cut, or disconnected CT wires, especially near cable ties or sharp edges. Repair or replace damaged harnesses.
- CT orientation: Verify that the CTs are installed in the correct orientation and around the correct conductors as per the wiring diagram. Incorrect installation can cause erroneous readings.
- Replace faulty CT or board: If wiring and connectors are intact but E08 persists, the CT itself or the board’s current sensing circuit may be defective. Replace the CT assembly first; if the issue remains, replace the control board.
