Possible Causes
Incorrect pilot voltage levels, Faulty resistor network on pilot input, Damaged pilot pin in J1772 connector, Control board state machine firmware issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the charger or handling the cable entry.
- Inspect J1772 pilot pin: Ensure the small pilot pin is straight, clean, and not recessed. Clean with contact cleaner if dirty.
- Test with another vehicle: Try a different EV to rule out a vehicle-side issue.
- Check cable for damage: Look for kinks or crush points along the cable that could affect the pilot conductor.
- Firmware and board: If the hardware appears intact and E14 occurs with multiple vehicles, the control board’s pilot sensing circuit or firmware may be faulty. Contact Sun Country Highway support or replace the control board.
