Wall Connector will not start charging; vehicle shows 'Charging equipment not ready' and Tesla app shows CP_a001

Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the Wall Connector before touching the unit or cable. Do not attempt to charge if you suspect water inside the charger.

• Inspect for moisture: Check the Wall Connector housing, conduit entry, and cable gland for signs of water ingress or condensation. If the unit is outdoors, look for gaps in the seal or cracks in the enclosure.
• Dry the connector and port: Wipe the charge handle and the vehicle charge port with a clean, dry, lint‑free cloth. Allow both to air dry for at least 30–60 minutes before retrying.
• Check cable condition: Look along the entire length of the Tesla Wall Connector cable for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections. If any copper is visible or the insulation is deformed, do not use the charger.
• Reset power: After drying and inspection, switch the breaker back on. Wait 1–2 minutes for the Wall Connector to boot, then reconnect the vehicle and monitor for the error.
• If error persists: The internal ground fault detection circuit or main control board may be damaged. Do not bypass ground fault protection. Contact a qualified electrician or Tesla Service to test insulation resistance and replace the Wall Connector if necessary.
