Possible Causes

Damaged pilot wire inside charge cable, Bent or contaminated pilot pin in connector, Faulty pilot driver circuit on Wall Connector control board, Water ingress at handle affecting pilot contact

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the breaker before inspecting the Wall Connector handle or opening the unit.

  • Inspect the handle: Examine the Tesla connector handle pins, especially the small pilot pin, for dirt, corrosion, or physical damage. Clean gently with a dry, soft brush; do not use solvents or lubricants.
  • Check cable strain: Look for kinks, crushed sections, or severe bends near the handle or where the cable enters the Wall Connector. Internal pilot conductor damage often occurs at stress points.
  • Dry the connector: If the handle has been exposed to rain or snow, allow it to dry thoroughly. Store the handle in the holster when not in use.
  • Power cycle: Turn the breaker off for 2 minutes, then back on to reset the control board. Attempt charging again.
  • If still faulty: The internal cable assembly or control board pilot circuit is likely defective. These are not field‑repairable; the Wall Connector or cable assembly must be replaced.
