Charging fails with CP_a008; vehicle may show 'Charging equipment communication error'

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting the handle in detail.

• Inspect latch: Check the mechanical latch button on the Tesla connector handle. Ensure it moves freely and is not jammed by dirt or ice.
• Clean handle: Use a dry cloth to clean around the latch and connector body. Do not spray liquids into the handle.
• Check cable strain relief: Look for excessive bending or pulling where the cable enters the handle; this is a common failure point for proximity wiring.
• Test with another vehicle or charger: If possible, try another Tesla charger with the same vehicle, or another Tesla vehicle with this Wall Connector, to isolate whether the fault is in the charger or the car.
• If handle is confirmed faulty: The cable and handle assembly must be replaced; it is not user‑serviceable.
