Possible Causes
Loose internal connections heating up under load, Marginal contact in J1772 pins, Overheating of cable or connector, Unstable supply voltage causing resets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Components may be hot after a charge attempt. Turn off power and allow cooling before touching.
- Monitor temperature: During a charge, periodically feel (carefully) the J1772 handle and cable. If they become excessively hot, stop using the charger.
- Inspect terminations: With power OFF, tighten all terminal screws at the input block and contactor to specified torque.
- Check connector wear: Look for looseness when the connector is plugged into the vehicle. Excessive play can cause intermittent contact.
- Supply stability: Have an electrician check for voltage dips or flicker on the circuit when large loads start in the home.
If interruptions continue, the cable assembly or internal contactor may need replacement.
