Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass ground fault protection. Turn off power at the breaker before touching internal components.
- Inspect for moisture: Check the J1772 handle and vehicle inlet for water, condensation, or corrosion. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth and allow several hours in a dry environment before retrying.
- Check outdoor installation: Ensure the charger is mounted vertically and that the cable hangs downward so water cannot pool in the connector. Verify the holster is intact and shields the connector from rain.
- Test with another vehicle and outlet circuit: If available, try charging a different EV. If E02 only appears with one vehicle, the fault may be vehicle-side.
- Visual cable inspection: Look for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections in the cable that could allow moisture ingress or expose conductors.
- Internal check (qualified person only): With power OFF and cover removed, inspect the ground fault detection module and wiring from line/neutral to the main control board. Look for burn marks or loose terminals. Tighten connections to manufacturer torque specs.
If E02 recurs, the ground fault detection circuitry or cable may need replacement. Do not continue using the charger until the fault is resolved.
