Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: De-energize the charger at the breaker before inspecting the cable or internal wiring.
- Check connector latch: Ensure the J1772 latch moves freely and fully engages when plugged into the vehicle. A stuck latch can prevent proper proximity signaling.
- Inspect cable: Look for physical damage, kinks, or crushed areas along the cable. Flex the cable gently near the handle while observing the display; intermittent changes may indicate a broken conductor.
- Test with another EV: If the charger detects another vehicle correctly, the issue may be with the original vehicle’s inlet.
- Internal wiring check: With power OFF, verify that the proximity wire is securely connected from the cable gland to the control board terminal. Reseat any plug-in connectors.
If E07 persists and the cable shows signs of damage, replace the complete J1772 cable and handle assembly with a United Chargers-approved part.
