Possible Causes

Incorrect pilot duty cycle generation on control board, Firmware configuration error for maximum current, Short or open in pilot resistor network, Interference on pilot line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before opening the charger. Pilot signal measurements should be done by a qualified technician.

  • Reset to defaults: If the charger has a configuration menu or app, reset current settings to factory defaults and reconfigure according to circuit breaker size.
  • Check for third-party devices: Remove any external load controllers or smart relays wired into the pilot line that could distort the signal.
  • Inspect pilot wiring: With power OFF, verify the pilot conductor is intact from the control board to the cable. Look for pinched or abraded insulation near the cable gland.
  • Firmware update: If supported, update the charger firmware via the official United Chargers app or web interface to correct any known pilot control issues.

If E08 continues, the pilot generation circuit on the main control board may be defective and require board replacement.
