Possible Causes
Line and neutral reversed (on 120/240 V models), Missing neutral where required, Miswired double-pole breaker, Incorrectly shared neutral with other circuits
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Wiring corrections must be performed by a licensed electrician.
- Verify wiring diagram: Compare the actual connections at the charger and panel with the installation manual.
- Check breaker type: Ensure a proper 2-pole breaker is used for 240 V circuits and that both poles trip together.
- Neutral requirements: If the charger model requires a neutral, confirm that a dedicated neutral conductor is present and correctly landed.
Do not attempt to operate the charger until wiring is corrected and E17 no longer appears.
