Possible Causes

Loose CP or PP connection in Type 2 socket harness, Poor contact in vehicle inlet or cable pins, Vibration causing intermittent contactor coil supply, Marginal control board solder joints

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before internal inspection. Avoid wiggling live cables.

  • 1. Try another cable and vehicle: Determine whether the issue follows the cable or vehicle. Replace any suspect cable.
  • 2. Inspect Type 2 socket: With power off, check for loose or worn contacts, especially on the smaller CP/PP pins. Tighten terminal screws on the rear of the socket.
  • 3. Check harness strain relief: Ensure the socket harness is properly strain-relieved and not pulling on connectors when the cable is inserted.
  • 4. Inspect contactor wiring: Verify that coil and power terminals on the main contactor are tight and that no wires are vibrating loose.
  • 5. Board inspection: Look for cracked solder joints on the main control board, particularly around heavy components and connectors. If found, replace the board.
