How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Before opening the charger, switch off the dedicated EV charger MCB/RCD/RCBO in the consumer unit and verify absence of voltage with a suitable tester. Only qualified persons should remove covers.
- 1. Inspect the vehicle connector and Type 2 socket: Unplug the cable from both car and charger. Check the Type 2 socket on the Vestel unit for bent, recessed, or contaminated pins (especially the small CP and PP pins). Clean gently with a dry, non‑metallic brush. Do not use liquids.
- 2. Try a different cable: If available, test with another Type 2 cable known to work on a different charger. If E01 disappears, the original cable has a CP/PP conductor fault and should be replaced.
- 3. Check cable locking mechanism: On socketed Vestel units, ensure the mechanical lock pin moves freely and is not obstructing full insertion of the plug. Remove debris and check for physical damage.
- 4. Power cycle the charger: Turn off the charger’s supply for 2–3 minutes, then restore power and retry. Transient CP driver faults can clear after a reboot.
- 5. Internal inspection (qualified technician only): With power isolated and covers removed, trace the CP and PP wires from the Type 2 socket to the Vestel main control board. Check for loose terminal screws, damaged insulation, or broken conductors. Reseat the plug-in connector on the control board. If wiring is intact, the CP driver circuit on the main control board may be defective and the board should be replaced.
If E01 persists with multiple vehicles and cables, contact a qualified EVSE technician or Vestel service for control board diagnostics and replacement.
