Possible Causes

Tripped internal DC leakage sensor module, Faulty integrated RCD/RCM in Vestel charger, Genuine DC leakage from vehicle onboard charger, Damaged Type 2 cable causing leakage to earth

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: RCD/DC leakage trips indicate a potential shock hazard. Do not repeatedly reset without investigation. Isolate power before opening the unit.

  • 1. Reset external protection: Check the dedicated EV circuit RCD/RCBO in the consumer unit. If tripped, reset once. If it trips again immediately when charging starts, stop and investigate further.
  • 2. Try a different vehicle: If possible, connect a different EV to the Vestel charger. If E03 only occurs with one vehicle, the fault may be in that vehicle’s onboard charger; advise the owner to contact the vehicle dealer.
  • 3. Try a different cable: Swap the Type 2 cable. If the error clears, replace the original cable.
  • 4. Inspect internal RCD/RCM module: With power isolated and cover removed, locate the internal RCD/DC leakage sensor (often a toroidal current transformer with harness to the control board). Check that all conductors pass correctly through the core and that connectors are firmly seated.
  • 5. Check for moisture ingress: Look for signs of water inside the enclosure, especially around cable glands and the RCD module. Dry the unit thoroughly, correct any sealing issues (replace gaskets, tighten glands), and retest.
  • 6. Replace faulty RCD/RCM or main board: If nuisance trips persist with multiple vehicles and cables and no moisture is present, replace the internal RCD/DC leakage module or, on integrated designs, the main control/power board assembly.
