Possible Causes
Failed SMPS on power board, Short circuit on 5 V or 12 V rail, Damaged wiring harness causing intermittent shorts, Overloaded auxiliary output (e.g., external relay or meter powered from charger)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power before testing internal DC rails. Avoid shorting test points.
- 1. Disconnect external loads: Remove any external devices powered from the charger’s auxiliary outputs (e.g., external relays, meters) and see if E18 clears.
- 2. Measure DC rails: With power on and appropriate caution, measure the 5 V, 12 V, and any other specified rails at test points or connectors. Compare to Vestel specifications.
- 3. Inspect for shorts: With power off, look for burnt components, discolored areas, or solder bridges on the power and control boards.
- 4. Harness inspection: Check all low-voltage harnesses for crushed insulation or pinched cables that could cause intermittent shorts.
- 5. Replace SMPS/power board: If rails are missing or unstable and no external short is found, replace the SMPS or entire power board assembly.
