Possible Causes

Unstable control pilot signal due to wiring fault, Weak contactor coil supply from power board, Loose control wiring to contactor, Faulty control logic on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Rapid switching can damage components. Isolate power before inspection.

  • 1. Stop using immediately: Do not continue attempting to charge while the contactor is chattering.
  • 2. Inspect control wiring: With power off, check the low-voltage wires from the main board to the contactor coil. Tighten terminals and reseat connectors.
  • 3. Check CP wiring: Ensure the CP conductor from the Type 2 socket to the main board is intact and firmly connected.
  • 4. Measure coil voltage: During a controlled test, measure the coil voltage when the charger attempts to start. If it fluctuates significantly, suspect the driver circuit or power board.
  • 5. Replace contactor or board: If the coil is within spec but still chatters, replace the contactor. If coil voltage is unstable, replace the main control or power board as appropriate.
