How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Rapid switching can damage components. Isolate power before inspection.
- 1. Stop using immediately: Do not continue attempting to charge while the contactor is chattering.
- 2. Inspect control wiring: With power off, check the low-voltage wires from the main board to the contactor coil. Tighten terminals and reseat connectors.
- 3. Check CP wiring: Ensure the CP conductor from the Type 2 socket to the main board is intact and firmly connected.
- 4. Measure coil voltage: During a controlled test, measure the coil voltage when the charger attempts to start. If it fluctuates significantly, suspect the driver circuit or power board.
- 5. Replace contactor or board: If the coil is within spec but still chatters, replace the contactor. If coil voltage is unstable, replace the main control or power board as appropriate.
