Possible Causes

Faulty RFID reader in VW wallbox front panel, Corrupted user authorization data, Communication failure with VW backend (for connected models), Damaged front panel PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: This is a low‑voltage control issue; do not open the charger unless qualified. High‑voltage components are nearby.

  • Test offline mode: If your VW wallbox supports local charging without internet, disable remote authorization in the app or set it to ‘plug & charge’ if allowed, then test.
  • Try multiple RFID cards: Use another authorized RFID card or tag. If none work, the reader or control board may be faulty.
  • Check network connection: For networked VW wallboxes, verify Wi‑Fi or Ethernet connectivity and that your router has internet access. Reboot the router and charger.
  • Update firmware: Use the VW wallbox app or web interface to check for firmware updates. Apply any available update and retry.

If E006 persists after network and firmware checks, the RFID reader module or main control PCB in the VW wallbox may require replacement. Contact Volkswagen Energy Products support with the wallbox model and serial number.
