Possible Causes
Damaged PP resistor in Type 2 plug of VW tethered cable, Broken PP wire in cable harness, Corroded PP contact in socket, Faulty PP detection circuit on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting the plug or socket closely.
- Inspect plug and cable: Look for kinks, cuts, or crushed sections near the plug where the PP wire often runs.
- Test with another cable: If your VW wallbox has a socket, try a different Type 2 cable. If the error disappears, the original cable is faulty.
- Clean contacts: Use a dry, lint‑free cloth to gently clean the plug pins. Do not use sprays or lubricants.
If E017 persists with multiple cables, the PP detection circuit on the VW wallbox control board may be defective and require board replacement.
