Possible Causes

Faulty microswitch in cable holster (for tethered VW wallbox), Damaged plug detection switch in socket, Loose low‑voltage harness to detection switch, Mechanical wear of holster mechanism

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before manipulating the holster or socket area aggressively.

  • Insert fully: Ensure the plug is fully seated in the vehicle and, when stored, fully latched in the holster.
  • Listen for click: When inserting the plug into the holster or socket, listen for a distinct click from the detection switch.
  • Gently exercise the mechanism: With power off, insert and remove the plug several times to free a sticking switch.

If E019 persists, the plug detection switch or associated wiring inside the VW wallbox must be inspected and possibly replaced by a technician.
