Possible Causes
Loss of Wi‑Fi or Ethernet connection to Volvo charger, Faulty internal communication module (Wi‑Fi/BLE), Incorrect network configuration or changed router password, Damaged antenna or antenna cable inside charger
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Network troubleshooting does not usually require power‑off, but if you open the charger, turn OFF the breaker first.
- Check home network: Verify your router is online and other devices can access the internet. If the SSID or password changed, the charger must be re‑provisioned.
- Reboot charger and router: Power‑cycle the router. Then turn the charger breaker OFF for 30 seconds and back ON. Wait a few minutes for reconnection.
- Re‑pair in Volvo app: Follow the Volvo Home Charger or Volvo Cars app instructions to re‑add the charger, scanning any QR code on the unit if required.
- Inspect antenna (power OFF): If the charger has an external or internal antenna module, ensure it is firmly connected and not damaged. Avoid enclosing the charger in metal cabinets that block signal.
If E09 persists and local charging works, the issue is likely with the communication module or backend service. Contact Volvo Home Charging support for firmware updates or module replacement.
