Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker. Do not continue using a cable suspected of internal damage.
- Inspect cable entry: Check where the cable enters the wallbox for signs of crushing or sharp bends. Remove the strain relief clamp and inspect insulation.
- Check connector for moisture: Look inside the Type 2 plug for condensation or corrosion. Dry thoroughly and clean as needed.
- Continuity test (advanced): With the cable disconnected internally (power OFF), use a multimeter to check resistance between CP pin and PE pin. A low resistance indicates a short and the cable should be replaced.
- Board inspection: Examine the control board area around the CP driver for burn marks or damaged components.
If the cable tests good but E12 persists, the CP driver on the control board is likely damaged and the board should be replaced by a professional.
