Possible Causes

Faulty integrated kWh meter on Volvo charger main board, Loose CT or voltage sense wiring to meter section, Firmware corruption affecting metering, Electrical noise from nearby equipment interfering with measurement

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before opening the charger.

  • Check wiring to CTs: Locate the current transformers and ensure their leads are firmly connected to the metering terminals on the board.
  • Inspect meter section: Look for obvious damage (burn marks, bulging components) near the metering ICs.
  • Firmware update: Use the Volvo app or service tool to check for and apply any available firmware updates that address metering issues.
  • Power‑cycle and verify: After any changes, restore power and compare the charger’s kWh readings with your utility meter over a short test session.

If E14 remains and accurate metering is required for billing or load management, the main control board or meter module will need replacement by a qualified technician.
