Possible Causes

Leakage current detected on output, Faulty internal RCD module, Damaged output cable insulation, Moisture ingress in charging connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the Wallbox charger and verify the unit is de‑energized before touching any wiring. Do not continue to charge if a ground fault is suspected.

  • Power cycle the charger: Turn the upstream breaker OFF for 2–3 minutes, then ON. Reconnect the vehicle and see if Error 01 clears. If it recurs immediately, stop and continue below.
  • Inspect the charging cable and connector: Look for cuts, abrasions, melted spots, or signs of moisture or corrosion on the Wallbox Type 1/Type 2 connector pins. If the cable or plug is wet, disconnect from vehicle, dry thoroughly with a clean cloth, and allow several hours to air dry before retrying.
  • Check for external RCD trips: If your installation uses an upstream RCD/RCBO, verify it has not tripped. A nuisance trip may indicate leakage in the vehicle or cable. Reset only once; if it trips again, have a qualified electrician test the circuit.
  • Test with another vehicle (if possible): If Error 01 only appears with one specific EV, the fault may be in the vehicle’s onboard charger. Do not bypass safety features; contact the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Internal RCD module check (qualified personnel only): Remove power, open the Wallbox enclosure per service manual, and visually inspect the internal RCD/ground fault board and wiring harness for burns, loose connectors, or moisture. If damage or contamination is found, replace the internal RCD/ground fault module and re‑test with an insulation tester as per Wallbox specifications.

If Error 01 persists after cable inspection and power cycling, discontinue use and contact a certified Wallbox service technician.
