Wallbox shows 'Error 06' and does not charge; often associated with pilot signal or communication with vehicle.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before inspecting internal wiring. Do not insert tools into the vehicle inlet or Wallbox connector pins while energized.
- Inspect connector pins: Examine the Type 1/Type 2 plug for bent, recessed, or contaminated pins, especially the smaller control pilot pin. Clean gently with a dry cloth; do not use solvents.
- Check cable strain: If the cable has been frequently twisted or pulled, internal conductors may be broken. Flex the cable gently while observing if Error 06 appears or disappears; intermittent behavior suggests cable damage.
- Test with another EV (if available): If the charger works with another vehicle, the issue may be with the original EV’s inlet or pilot circuit.
- Internal wiring check (qualified technician): With power off, open the Wallbox and trace the CP wire from the cable gland to the main control board. Ensure all connectors are fully seated and not pinched.
- Continuity test: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the CP conductor from the plug pin to the board connector. If open, replace the charging cable assembly. If continuity is good, suspect the pilot driver circuit on the main board and replace the board if necessary.
Do not bypass or modify the pilot circuit; it is critical for safe charging. If Error 06 persists, contact a Wallbox service partner.
