Possible Causes
Aging or loose main contactor, Vibrating transformer or inductor on main board, Loose mounting screws, Excessive mains voltage causing magnetostriction noise
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the unit. Do not touch internal components while energized.
- Characterize the noise: A single click at start/stop is normal. Continuous loud buzzing or rapid clicking is not.
- Check mounting: With power off, open the Wallbox and ensure the contactor and any transformers/inductors are firmly mounted. Tighten mounting screws.
- Inspect contactor: Look for signs of wear or pitting on the contactor. If the coil is noisy and the contacts are worn, replace the contactor.
- Verify supply voltage: Have an electrician measure mains voltage. If significantly above nominal, consult the utility; high voltage can increase noise.
Mild humming can be normal, but sudden changes in noise level or pattern warrant professional inspection.
